Greetings, all delegates!

My name is Sophia, and I will be serving as your president for the Environment Commision at SHASMUN XII. I am an junior at SASPX. Despite my late start in MUN in 9th grade, I have experienced so much throughout the journey and every piece of MUN memory is unforgettable. The interaction with other delegates, chairs, admin staff and secretariats has allowed me to grow rapidly and develop a deeper interest for social studies, political science and international relationships. My wonderful experience along the MUN journey allows me to believe that this year’s SHASMUN will be as benefitting and enjoyable as it can be. My topic of specialization will be "Addressing the issue of oil drilling in the Middle East while considering the COP28 climate summit." In this topic, we will be debating on the balance between reducing oil drilling in the Middle East to meet COP28 climate goals and addressing the economic and geopolitical implications for the region.

I look forward to seeing you all at SHASMUN XII, and good luck to everyone!

Deputy President
Rachel Chi (DCB)

Hello delegates!

I’m Rachel Chi, a sophomore at Dulwich College Beijing, and I’m honored to serve as your deputy president for the Environment Commission. I first started MUN in 2022, with this iteration of SHASMUN marking my 12th total conference and 6th attending as a chair. This activity has been an integral part of my high school experience so far, and I hope my co-chairs and I can continue to make MUN rewarding for new and old delegates alike.

For the duration of this conference, my topic of specialization will be "Addressing the impact of space junk on outer space exploration and development". I expect debate on this topic to be productive and fruitful, and for each of you to contribute enlightening perspectives to the committee.

See you all in November!

Deputy President
