The General Assembly is one of the six principal organs of the United Nation, serving as the primary body within the UN for formulating policy. With participation from every Member State, it offers a singular platform for discussion on the whole range of global concerns addressed by the UN Charter.

Hello delegates!
My name is Anitra Coelho, and I am honored to be serving as the President of the General Assembly for the 12th iteration of SHASMUN. I am currently a Year 10 student attending Dulwich College Beijing, and SHASMUN XII marks my 10th conference, and 3rd as a chair.
From the moment my MUN journey began, it has been an incredibly fulfilling experience jam-packed with debate, dialogue and diplomacy. MUN has taught me the value of stepping into someone else's shoes, and keeping the bigger picture in sight instead of missing the forest for the trees.
For this conference, the topic I will be specializing in is "Addressing the safety of journalists and the issue of impunity", a subject that has a whole host of different perspectives, and I am intrigued to see how each delegate broaches the subject.

Hello! My name is Ethan Rana, and I am a freshman at Shanghai American School Puxi. SHASMUN XII marks my third year in MUN and my tenth conference. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed attending conferences as a delegate and look forward to my second chairing experience.

My name is Albert Peng, and I’m a senior at SSIS Shanghai. Originally from the Bay Area, I moved to Shanghai in 2020.
I’ve been a part of MUN for over 4 years and have participated in half a dozen conferences, including SHASMUN 11. I’m very excited to chair in SHASMUN XII’s General Assembly I committee. My main expertise will be “addressing the efficiency of country loans”.
